When east meet west (Moslems in America today)






Dear all,

On Dec 8, 2011 my friend and I had a chance to participate interactive dialogue : Moslems in America today.
The activity was conducted by Fadil (from Al-Falak Boarding School) and cooperated with USA Embassy. The Speaker was Imam Mohamad Bashar Arafat
Participants came from different background such as Majlis Ugama Islam Singapore, Inter faith Agency, Community College, and Bogor Moslemaa Society.

Moslems life in America nowadays was getting in shape to be unique since they came from the corner of the world; Arabian countries, South East Asia and many more.
Imam Mohamad Bashar Arafat was also explained based on Qoran (Al-Hujurat) : GOD created us in different color, types, religion in order to have mutual understanding and cooperated with into one to another.
ISLAM has three concepts; peace, love and mercy for mankind

Imam Mohamad Bashar also explained there were misunderstanding on American society after 9/11 tragedy when they looked up what Islam was. So that's why before we judged someone or religion, we'd better to know closer and made us more understand with.

Imam Mohamad bashar mentioned that on upcoming july 2012 there will be held students program in Singapore -- Hope we can participate in this event, Insya ALLAH

At the end of activity, we were from Bogor Moslemaa Society did some hijab tutorial for the students of Al-Falak, Alhamdulillah they were appreciate. Hope they can have some inspiration for their Hijab style and also we had an interview with VOA (Voice of America) :)
